Reaching & teaching - East Sussex

Caspari Foundation and Dialogue Training offer a two term programme of seminars and weekly work discussion groups for people in Brighton and East Sussex who want to develop their understanding of the developmental and emotional factors which affect children's learning, behaviour and confidence.

Course start date: January 2012

Reaching and Teaching troubled children helps participants develop therapeutic teaching skills in working with children with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. Course content includes

  • attachment & behaviour/learning as communication
  • the role of fathers in learning
  • family systems in learning
  • neuroscience & learning
  • beginnings, transitions & endings
  • making sense of & working with difficult behaviour in the classroom
  • working with families in the school setting
  • group work in schools
  • school as a secure base
The course is suitable for school senior leadership teams, class teachers, specialist teachers, SENCO's, school counsellors, teaching assistants, learning mentors and other professionals working with children in an educational setting. It is also useful for those wishing the become a practising educational psychotherapist.

No formal assessed written work is required and the course can be used towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) targets.
